Peru is a country in desperate need of God’s healing touch. Less than 9% of the 28 million Peruvians are evangelical believers. Over 50% of the Peruvian population lives below poverty level. Many have turned to crime just to survive. But others are turning to Christ, placing their faith in Him to meet their needs.
The number of trained pastors in Peru is far outweighed by the number of untrained pastors. The Peruvian Methodist Church only has thirteen ordained pastors - ten of whom serve in Lima. “Doctrinal confusion, deficient theology and the multiplication of sects must be answered by clear biblical teaching, but few pastors have the gifts and training.” (Operation World).
Because of the tremendous need for the training of Peruvian Pastors and leaders, The Mission Society has partnered with the Peruvian Methodist church to train Peruvian nationals.
